Typically, the best place to start the commission process is with a relatively informal conversation to discuss your idea and an overview of the project. This includes: lead times, timber selection, design, scale, your personal budget and an indicative price. This dialogue usually provides enough information to determine if a commissioned piece is a viable option for both of us.
If we decide to proceed to the next step, I usually go away and prepare a detailed design with an accompanying quote for your final approval. Once approved, a 50% deposit will be required to cover materials costs and to place the project in the workshop queue.
